"Over the Rainbow" is a ballad composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg. It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland in her starring role as Dorothy Gale. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and became Garland's signature song. My Guitar cover was a request for a friend Robert Desjardins who saw Steve Reynolds recent great NHS version here on YT and wanted the Tabs. Thanks for the inspiration Steve ! I haven’t played it quite the same as Steve’s – I based some of the runs on the Tony Clouts former bands version The Nightriders. Ernie Lamprell who made the BT sent me a copy of the Nightriders version when I bought his BT here :- http://strat-trax.co.uk/product/somewhere-over-the-rainbow-bt The Tabs of my version are free to download from my website https://philmcgarrick.co.uk Played on my Alan Brason Custom Stratocaster with Kinman FV-HMS pickups on middle position. Through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 echo unit with EFTP (Echoes from the past) Patch 0-36 Sound recorded in Cubase SX6 and edited with the 4k video takes in Sony Vegas pro 14 Please enjoy “Over the Rainbow” LYRICS Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow, Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true... Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly Birds fly over the rainbow, why then, oh why can't I? If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I?
