Prawn Masala | Eral Thokku
Prawns (Deshelled & deveined) - 400 grams
Oil - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Cloves - 3 nos
Onion - 2 medium size, finely chopped
Tomato - 2 medium size, finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder - 1.5 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Fennel seed powder - 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Gram masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Coriander leaves
Method:
1. In a kadai, heat 2 tsbp of oil and temper cinnamon and cloves.
2. Add in finely chopped onions, saute until it gets soft and translucent.
3. Add in tomatoes and cook the tomato until they turn soft and mushy.
4. Now, add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute to get rid of the raw smell
5. Add in cleaned and deveined prawns in to a onion and tomato . Mix well.
6. Then, add in spice powder's - turmeric, red chili, coriander, fennel, pepper and garam masala powder. Mix well add little bit of water to prevent the masalas from burning.
7. Cover and cook for 5 - 6 minutes on low heat until the oil oozes out of the masala.
8. Salt to adjust, curry leaves and mix gently. Turn off the stove.
9. Prawn Masala Gravy is ready to serve with Steamed rice , rotis, chapati and dosa's
