Direct Current - RD/TS (NeverLastStanding Remix)

/watch/Qk0Gm9S2c-p2G -- I remember hearing this song probably a week after it came out and immediately felt like remixing it. And so I did, and I finished it fairly quick. You know, I thought it was a cute song and wanted to try my own spin on it, I read the description and the story of it and went "Oh that's pretty cool, it was inspired by a sgap song." Then I didn't think much of it after. A couple days back I finished this remix and I go back to the original song. I read the description again because I did really want to know the story behind the song. This time I took the time to figure out what the "Unmakable Love" Project was and thought it was a full blown out album or series that had multiple songs, which was started by sgap. I listened to some of sgap's music, but was never fully invested into it. After upon finding the only song of it "RD/RA" I tried to understand the story and the meaning. Then went back to Direct Current's tribute and really did understand the meaning. The fact that someone continued in a way really did resonate with me. I think that's really why I prefer the original of this compared to my remix. Because of the meaning behind it, because it was picking up what sgap did and continuing in a way to then make it happen. Another thing, having the series by sgap being inspired by a fanfic called "The Combinatorics Project". I remember probably having that on my "read later" list for as long as a can remember. I only read the first chapter and never continued it. Recently I started reading it again and it made me realize how we get our inspiration. The reason I love Direct Current's version is because of the meaning and the inspiration behind it. Sometimes I listen to other's music and wonder why it has so much emotion. It's because it has intent and a meaning already instilled when it's being created. And that's something that I want to do, to create a song with inspiration and to create a song with an actual purpose behind it, with an actual intent and meaning behind it. To convey emotions in a way that it was meant to be and not a message that is slapped on. Something that was started from the beginning and was carried on through the entirety of it. -- We are bound til' we forget.
